OurWhisky Foundation mentorship programme 2023

The OurWhisky Foundation is now accepting applications from mentors and mentees for the 2023 intake of its globally popular whisky mentorship programme.

Launched in June 2022, the inaugural mentorship programme saw 50 women from around the world paired with some of the most revered individuals in the whisky industry.

Spanning Canada and Australia to Kenya, India, Scotland and Denmark, candidates joined the programme from all corners of the industry with personal goals to progress in their careers and learn from experienced mentors who are leaders in their fields.

Our 2022 mentees have made some significant achievements through the programme, from conducting their first full whisky production cycle to starting their own business, securing their dream job and even being hired by their mentor.

Becky Paskin, founder of the OurWhisky Foundation, said: “Studies have shown that people are more likely to reach their goals if they have a mentor, someone in their corner cheering them on. That’s why we began this mentorship programme, to give women in the global whisky industry a guiding hand as they pursue their ambitions. We’re incredibly proud of our mentees’ achievements so far and cannot wait to see what our next intake will do.”

Applications for the 2023 programme are now open for both mentors and mentees around the world.

Running for six months from January to June 2023, the programme will require mentors and mentees to meet at least once a month in person or virtually.

Using the GROW model (goal, reality, options, will), the programme incorporates the purpose-driven Japanese concept of ikigai to help steer mentees toward their personal goals.

In addition to the mentorship sessions, this year the programme also sees the introduction of several new components, including:

  • A space for mentees to network and chat about the programme or exchange helpful resources.

  • Regular workshops covering topics like presentation skills, confidence building and personal branding led by experts.

  • Group meetings before, during and after the programme to facilitate networking and discussion.

Applications for the 2023 intake will close on Sunday 4 December, with successful pairings announced before the end of the year.

Mentees can be any age and located anywhere in the world but must identify as female or non-binary with ambitions to progress in the whisky industry.

Mentors can also be located anywhere globally and identify as any gender, but must have at least five years experience in their field of expertise.

Apply to be a mentor or a mentee here.
