Beth Buckner becomes lead blender at Maker’s Mark
Kentucky bourbon Maker’s Mark has appointed Beth Buckner as its new lead blender, working alongside new master distiller Dr Blake Layfield.
Buckner joined the brand in 2013 and most recently acted as the distillery’s innovation manager.
She has played a significant role in the development of Maker’s Mark’s Wood Finishing Series, leading the brand in its push for innovation and the complex skill of blending.
As lead blender she will be supporting the Bourbon brand’s new master distiller, Dr Blake Layfield, who will oversee the distilling side of the process at Star Hill Farm in Loretto, KY.
Of her new title, Buckner said: “As innovators and blenders, we’re dedicated to honouring our legacy while shaping the future of our brand. This new role empowers us to better communicate this dual mission and deepen our connection with customers.
“Though the day-to-day work remains unchanged, this title underscores our commitment to the art of blending and our mission to create exceptional Bourbon that enriches the world."
Buckner and Layfield step into the roles after former master distiller Denny Potter and head of innovation and blending Jane Bowie left the business in 2022 to establish their own distillery, Potter Jane Distilling, in Washington County, KY.
